Lakers' Bryant expected to miss 9 months

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) Kobe Bryant is expected to be ready for the start of next season after the Los Angeles Lakers superstar underwent surgery on his torn right rotator cuff.

Bryant had successful surgery Wednesday at the Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.

Neal ElAttrache and Steve Lombardo performed the two-hour surgery. ElAttrache says he expects Bryant to make a full recovery, but Bryant will be out of action for roughly nine months.
